View East from Eagle Cap—Aneroid & Cusick Mountain,
Eagle Cap Wilderness . . . The latter is named for the pioneer
botanist, William C. Cusick (1842-1922). Many of the species
unique to the Wallowas and Blue Mountains, like Cusick's
Speedwell (Veronica cusickii), Cusick's Crazy Weed (Oxtopis
campestris var. cusickii)
or Cusick's Bluegrass (Poa cusickii)
are named after him.
